Oliver is a beautiful classic looking English Mastiff. He is 3 years old and finds himself in need of a family. You see Oliver has been tossed around quite a lot in his young life. Ollie tends to have accidents in the house and no one ever thought to bring him to a vet to see what was wrong.
AHR took him and had a thorough examination completed. His urinalysis revealed that he is a diabetic which causes him to be super thirsty and you know what goes in must come out! This is not the typical diabetes that everyone is familiar with- so there aren't any injections required. He has Diabetes Insipidus. Oliver must be given a pill 3x a day to help curb his thirst and help control his urge to urniate.
This medication costs approximately $130 a month. Mastiffs are a huge expense to own anyway simply because of the good food they require. He is definitely worth it!
He is fantastic with children and gentle despite his enormous size. He does better with female dogs than males although he is being fostered with 2 males that he does fine with. No cats for this guy; they make him nervous!
** We are going to be quite particular with this dog. We want his next home to be his last. He is not a novelty and will need a family who is financially stable to care for him.
